VOICE PROSTHESIS
In 1978, Drs. Singer and Blom pioneered the methods of tracheoesophageal puncture and valved silicone voice prostheses that over the past 26 years have become the international standard for voice restoration, allowing thousands of patients worldwide to regain their ability to speak. By creating a small surgical passage just inside the stoma, from the back wall of the trachea into the esophageal wall, a voice prosthesis can be placed into this passage to enable tracheoesophageal speech. Voice is produced by temporarily blocking the stoma so that exhaled air from the lungs can be directed from the trachea through the prosthesis into the esophagus and then out through the mouth. Fluent, conversational speech may be acquired within just a few days.
Blom-Singer voice prostheses are available as patient-maintained (ex: Duckbill, Low Pressure) or clinician-maintained (ex: Indwelling). Standard products are designed to accommodate most anatomies; special order product size/styles are also available.
ADVANTAGE™ Indwelling Voice Prosthesis
The ADVANTAGE indwelling voice prosthesis is the newest advancement in Blom-Singer voice restoration. Silver oxide has been incorporated into the prosthesis as a material preservative. The ADVANTAGE is placed by the clinician in the tracheoesophageal puncture so that routine changing of a voice prosthesis is unnecessary. It is ideal for laryngectomees who are unable or resistant to changing a removable voice prosthesis, such as the Duckbill or Low Pressure styles. The ADVANTAGE is inserted and replaced on an as needed basis by a speech pathologist or physician only.

ACCESSORIES – CLEAN AND READY-TO-USE
The Brush and Flush Cleaning System is an integral part of daily maintenance. The cleaning brush has important safety features to prevent it from being inserted too far into the prosthesis and a “T-Bar” handle to prevent it from accidentally entering the trachea. The Plug Insert is designed to temporarily stop leaking should it occur.
*Silver oxide, a known anti-fungal substance, has been incorporated into the prosthesis as a material preservative. This feature may eliminate or reduce the need for anti-fungal agents such as Nystatin for some users, but not for others.

BLOM-SINGER DUCKBILL VOICE PROSTHESIS
The Duckbill is a 16 Fr. silicone, one-way slit valve prosthesis designed for placement in a passage between the trachea and the esophagus for voice restoration following laryngectomy. The one-way valve of the Duckbill protects the airway during swallowing and opens under positive pressure so that air crosses into the esophagus to produce voice. The Duckbill is a patient-maintained device; the patient may insert, remove and clean the device independently.
Available in a range of lengths from 6mm to 28mm.
BLOM-SINGER LOW PRESSURE VOICE PROSTHESIS
The Low Pressure is a silicone one-way flapper valve prosthesis designed for placement in a passage between the trachea and the esophagus for voice restoration following laryngectomy. Like the Duckbill Voice Prosthesis, the one-way valve protects the airway during swallowing and opens under positive pressure so that air crosses into the esophagus to produce voice. The Low Pressure is a patient-maintained device; the patient may insert, remove and clean the device independently.

BLOM-SINGER 20 FR. INDWELLING VOICE PROSTHESES
Blom-Singer Indwelling voice prostheses are available in a variety of sizes and styles. Like the Indwelling Advantage voice prosthesis, these products are intended for laryngectomees who are unable or reluctant to perform the routine removal and insertion necessary for the cleaning and maintenance of traditional, patient-maintained voice prostheses. The 20 Fr. Indwelling is clinician-maintained; it is inserted and replaced on an as needed basis by a speech pathologist or physician only.

STARTER KIT — CLEAN AND READY-TO-USE RX
Kit includes: Indwelling voice prosthesis, Inserter, Gel Cap Loading Tool and Push Rod, three Gel Caps, two packets of K-Y Jelly, separate Patient Kit with instructions and Flushing devices.
Note: Valved Insert and Plug Insert devices are not included in the Starter Kit. These may be ordered separately.
Sterile Series Rx - The Sterile (EtO) Series is available for surgeons who are placing voice prostheses at the time of total laryngectomy surgery (Primary Placement).
Replacement Kit Rx - The Replacement Kit contains only the items necessary for the clinician to exchange patients’ devices. Kit includes: Indwelling voice prosthesis, Inserter, three Gel Caps.
